Tuesday Tip: Breakfast

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  Not sure who “they” are, but I can tell you that my trainer, dietitian, and mother all agree.

I never put stock in breakfast because I’m usually running back to the apartment to grab my phone, hoping I don’t get a ticket as my car idles outside.  If I’m lucky, I can scarf down a granola bar (or better yet, a latte) before I get lost in tons of e-mails, only to realize it’s 2pm and I’m starving.  And because time has flown by, my first instinct is to hit the drive through so I don’t snap at someone in a fit of hanger.

For me, the challenge with breakfast really stems from my biggest weakness:  laziness.  There’s nothing I love more than fresh egg whites, crispy bacon, and cheese on a soft roll.  But the truth is that’s neither healthy, nor is it quick to make.  That and it’s not exactly portable.

Smoothies seemed like the logical choice, but I didn’t want the sugar.  What’s more, I really wanted to get into the habit of starting my day off right.  That;s why I was so stoked to find Simple Green Smoothies:

I am currently on Day #2 of the 10-day Kickstart and I’m surprised by how much I enjoy the recipes.  I’ll be doing some follow-up posts on my progress with the kickstart!
